Line & Length
Cabernet Sauvignon

Herbert Sutcliffe and Jack Hobbs. Quite simply, the two men formed the best opening pair in the history of Test cricket. They amassed 3249 runs in only 38 innings with 15 century stands at a whopping average of 87.81. Individually they rank as two of the greatest batsmen in history, but together they were unassailable. Similarly, when blending our Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon, we look for line and length in every barrel; lines of tannin and structure, and length of fruit flavour. The aromatics of this wine display a deep cherry red with a nose loaded with fruit, red liquorice and cassis. The palate delivers layers of plump, juicy, ripe fruit, dense in texture and supported by the cassis and dark chocolate. The mouth feel is particularly luscious, yet true to the varietal, it is also elegant and balanced.

Wine Press and Accolades

2015 Line and Length Cabernet Sauvignon: 94 points – Tony Keys - The Key Report – Jul 2017

“A soft and slightly plump beat, wonderful structure and the way he curves those notes? easy on the palate and very pleasing to all the senses. 94 points, and, man, $22? I’ve dropped more than that to the hat check.”

2014 Line and Length Cabernet Sauvignon: 92 points – James Halliday - 2017 Wine Companion – Aug 2016

“It has a bit of strength. A sense of purpose. It tastes of asphalt, loganberry and blackcurrant with tips of mint, the flavours marshalling impressive forces before marching in strict formation through the finish. ”

2014 Line & Length Cabernet Sauvignon: 91 Points – Kim Brebach - BWU$20 – Mar 2016

“Ripe dark berries, some cassis and vanillan oak. Finer and smoother than the other 2 reds under this label, the wine delivers on the promise of line and length. Depth is the only thing that’s lacking a little, we could say it shows more style than substance.”

2014 Line & Length Cabernet Sauvignon: 91 Points – Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front – Oct 2015

“Blend of Eden and Barossa valley cabernet sauvignon. Often, a most effective combination. It certainly works well here. This delivers fruit flavour in attractive style, and then tidies itself up nicely through the finish. Blackcurrant, mint, loganberry, bay leaves, perhaps a hint of asphalt. Tasty. Ready to rip.”

2014 Line & Length Cabernet Sauvignon: 93 Points – Tony Keys - The End Scribble – Jul 2015

“An interesting nose but one I couldn’t pin, cool style of cabernet and reading the notes post tasting I find some of the content comes from the Eden Valley hence it didn’t have that chocolate edge that many Barossa cabernet’s have, all in a good well rounded wine”

2013 Line & Length Cabernet Sauvignon: 18/20 Points – Raymond Chan – Jul 2015

“Very dark, near saturated black-red colour with ruby hues. The bouquet is elegantly proportioned and well-bound with aromas of ripe blackcurrant fruit infused with mint, fresh herbs and soft olive notes. There is density and depth to the aromatics, which reveal a soft inkiness and subtle pencil-like oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate features soft and finely presented flavours of lush and juicy blackcurrants, minty herbs and olives. Lead pencil oak nuances add detail. The fruit is vibrant and lively with subtle acid freshness and energy. This has a good linear core behind the fine-gained tannin extraction balancing the fruit sweetness, and the wine flows to a long, lingering finish with soft blackcurrant notes. This a lush and lively, poised Cabernet Sauvignon with sweet blackcurranty fruit and fine tannin structure. Match with herb marinated, roasted red meats, and semi-hard cheeses over the next 6-7+ years. Fruit from the ‘Bethany’ and Eden Valley districts fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 6-10 days on skins and aged 12-15 months in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads. ”

2013 Line & Length Cabernet Sauvignon: Paul Ippolito – Mar 2015

“A very good regional and varietal red, nice aromatics, an impressive stature coming through from the nose. Fruit driven, intense, spicy fruit abounds, solid and persistent, pure fruit coming through as well. Lively and good backbone, quite good integrated oak, there but not in your face. Well rounded smoothish again there tannins, more in store for later. But quite frankly it is delivering well with cassis, currants, mulberries. Drinking for a decade, will develop more with the current oak and tannins in place, refined classy drinking now with that fruit edge that rewards well. Try this with oven baked Italian pork and fennel sausages. About $22.”

2014 Line & Length Cabernet Sauvignon: 93 Points – Tony Keys - The Key Review of Wine – Jan 2015

“Rich, ripe, full on, hardly cabernet but somehow gets away with it and drinks very well. 93 points and worth $22.”
